Peter Mim

Peter Mim is among the most popular pantomime poets in Europe.
Born and raised in Bulgaria, he finished his first diploma as a mechanical engineer.

He discovered his love for theatre, in particular for the art of pantomime.
Apart from his study of the theatre sciences, play and stage direction he began his training as a versatile pantomime artist.
Peter Mim made his first experiences at the theatre academy in Sofia and Moscow.
He learned from mimes such as Tomaschewski, Ladislav Fialka and Marcel Marceau, with whom he later had a close artistic friendship, in addition he completed the master class Butoh from Tadaschi Endo.

His stage career as a mime protagonist began in 1973: with Velio Goranov he founded the pantomime studio and his first theatre group "MIMANS" in Sofia which was transformed into a professional theatre troup at the municipal theatre three years later.
Since 1978 he worked as a trained actor and pantomime at different municipal theatres in Bulgaria, lastly at the municipal theatre Sliven whose director he was during the last years before he settled in Germany.

Peter Mim already performs stands since 1978 and inspires his audience with highest professionalism and perfection on the large stages and at festivals all over the world.
His art is cultivated in best Russian and French tradition, which is often compared with Marceauās and Chaplinās art.
He takes from the rich fundus of classic pantomime but also uses elements with modern, innovative pantomime and visual theatre.

Peter Mim has been living in Germany since 1991 and works as a freelance artist with numerous engagements on stages all over Europe and overseas and as a lecturer of body language and pantomime as well as a coach for body language and nonverbal communication for different enterprises in Germany among others the Second Channel of German Television, university for music and theatre in Hannover, school of clownery and theatre TUT- Hannover.

The summer academy of the DAIDOGEI festival, Shizuoka Japan, was under his artistic management for 2 play times (2003 and 2004).

In the year 2005 Peter Mim founded the Mimart studio, his own school of pantomime and body language.
Apart from his stage activity the mime offers the training and further education of other artists there, workshops and seminars, trainings and consultations.

As a producer and Mimograph Peter Mim furthermore celebrates many great successes with productions like the mimodram "Carmen" adapted from Prosper Mˇrimˇe as well as ³plastic theatre Pygmalionä adapted from the most well-known myths Greek antiquity and inspired by the world of Finnish legends.
In addition Peter Mim works for films and television, among these works there are recordings for ZDF, mdr, SAT 1, ARD, ORF, RTL, 3sat, n-tv, and he was honoured with numerous awards at home and abroad.

Today the pantomime lives and works at his place of residence in Isernhagen close to Hannover.
